 A team of researchers have developed an amazing device which is capable of converting energies from multiple forms to a single state, this technology can  shape a new future and will solve the problem of energy abundance. We need to develop newer technologies to cope up with the current trends but not at the expense of our environment. Since, many machines and devices emits a huge amount of carbon-di-oxide in the environment, it poses a major problem. But now researchers use this tiny smart device known as spin torque oscillators which can harvest and convert wireless radio frequencies into energy and this energy then can be used in many devices to power them. Earlier, we used to run smaller appliances with power that we had to provide each time through a power source. Though, the power and energy required by the device cannot be bracketed.

We are surrounded by WI-FI signals 24*7 but the time we are not using internet, we are wasting huge amount of signal energy as we are not able to direct it in the correct form. Our latest outcome is a step towards converting the available 2.4 GHz radio waves into a green power source, reducing the need for batteries to power the electronic devices we regularly use. In this way, small electrical devices and sensors can be wirelessly powered using radio frequency waves as part of the Internet of things.

With the advent of smart homes and smart cities, our work could lead to energy-efficient applications in communication, computational and neuromorphic systems, "said Professor Yang Hyunsoo of the NIS Electrical and Information Technology Department, who led the research in collaboration with the research team by Professor Guo Yong Xin, who also comes from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the NUS, and Professor Shunsuke Fukami and his team from the TU. The results were published in Nature Communications on May 18, 2021. The rise of smart homes and information technology keeps rising and so accordingly market is also expanding which is suitable for the public.
