Talking about the Covid situations, cases are rising very rapidly, All the sectors from business, entertainment to sport are not in full functioning situations and it is not regulated with those glimpse lights and crowd. This year IPL was India’s first major sporting tournament since the Covid outbreak started spreading across the country and people don’t want to go out buy tickets from counters and buy other accessories to watch the match in a full crowded stadium with friends and family to enjoy the enthusiasm of cricket and love for the same. The Indian Cricket Board earned Rs 4000 crore in revenue from the IPL in the UAE. TV viewership was about 25 per cent more than last year and it was highly kept in mind that no one should get harm from this pandemic so over 30000 RT-PCR tests were conducted for a total of 1800 individuals without any of the 60 matches being affected by the pandemic and if anyone gets a positive report he must not allowed to be there.
If we see a brief insight of IPL according to BCCI treasure Arun Dhumal’s report card at the end of the high profile T20 league and it will show the performance of players. This year IPL was also India’s first major sporting tournament. Dhumal, however did not discuss the breakup of revenue or viewership for the tournament that was held without spectators in the stands due to pandemic. The break down must be very high and so many industries may come under the line of financial crunches and so they countered heavy losses in the terms of revenue generation. The spectators can pay any of the amounts when it comes to IPL because there are fans of cricket in every corner of India and so they will buy the tickets at any cost. Stadium profit also recovers from the amount paid by the spectators. Some small vendors also get to generate good amount because of the spectators but this year we see a rapid fall in the amount of money generated. Organizers have been banking on the five year broadcast and media rights deal signed in 2017 with star worth Rs 16,347 crore. A media sponsor is always responsible for telecasting the matches at right time according to the fixture.
With stringent Covid curbs in India, the IPL was held from September 19 to November 10 in Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. But Dhumal told The Indian Express, the tournament was in doubt with barely two months to go when world no.1 tennis player Novak Djkovic tested positive after playing exhibition matches in Serbia and Croatia.
